The mayor of Tourism and Crafts, Gelen Delgado has highlighted the success of the workshop within the CeramiTUR project and continued its work of dissemination of the ceramic process has been carried out in the Occupational Center “Artisan Hands”, an artistic activity designed to promote creativity, autonomy and self-expression of people with disabilities who are part of the center.

The participants, accompanied by the mayor of Crafts, Gelen Delgado, the mayor of Disability, Julia González, and the mayor of Social Affairs, Pepa Blázquez, explored different modeling and painting techniques in ceramics, working with clay, glazes and natural pigments. Under the guidance of ceramists, professionals and staff specialized in attention to diversity, each participant was able to create unique pieces that reflect their talent, effort and vision of the world.

These activities are part of the CeramiTUR program, promoted by the Spanish Association of Cities of Ceramics and coordinated locally by the City Council of Talavera de la Reina, through the Department of Crafts and Tourism, which aims to turn the ceramic heritage into a lively, structured and accessible tourist experience, encouraging citizen participation and pride in Talavera ceramics.

CERAMITUR, is funded through the European Union’s Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan – Next Generation EU, established by Council Regulation (EU) 2020/2094 of December 14, 2020.
