Last Tuesday, September 9, took place within the CeramiTUR program promoted by the Department of Crafts and Tourism an inclusive pottery workshop for visually impaired people in the Centro Artesano San Ginés. A unique experience added to craft tourism where art is experienced through touch, intuition and sensitivity.

The participants, accompanied by the mayor of Disability, Julia González, explored clay modeling with their hands as the only guide, discovering new forms of expression, accompanied by ceramic artisans, they learned to create unique pieces on the potter’s wheel and by hand, developing both technical and emotional skills.

These activities are part of the CeramiTUR program, promoted by the Spanish Association of Cities of Ceramics and coordinated locally by the City Council of Talavera de la Reina, through the Department of Crafts and Tourism, which aims to turn the ceramic heritage into a lively, structured and accessible tourist experience, encouraging citizen participation and pride in Talavera ceramics.

CERAMITUR, is funded through the European Union’s Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan – Next Generation EU, established by Council Regulation (EU) 2020/2094 of December 14, 2020.
