The mayor, José Julián Gregorio, stressed that the Royal Road to Guadalupe “is a project that benefits tourism in the city” and attracts hundreds of visitors to Talavera on their way to the Royal Monastery of Guadalupe.
This has been pronounced today at the reception that the president of the Senate, Pedro Rollán, has made the neighborhood association Fray Hernando, promoters of the project, and today have made delivery of a replica of a milestone of the road to the aforementioned president.
The event was attended by authorities from all the towns through which the road crosses the autonomous communities of Madrid, Castilla-La Mancha and Extremadura, in addition to the councilman of Employment, Javier Muñoz-Gallego.
In turn, Gregorio has delivered a personalized ceramic baton to the President of the Senate, thanking him for having received the neighbors of Talavera who have been involved in the development and promotion of this project.
Pedro Rollán has received a replica of the first milestone of the road; the one that corresponds to kilometer 257; which was inaugurated in April 2024, an event attended by mayors and authorities of 33 municipalities through which the Camino Real de Guadalupe passes.
Gregorio stressed that Talavera will continue to support this project “because it is a great opportunity to boost tourism, which also benefits three autonomous communities” and that it is attracting more and more visitors, “attracted by the cultural, natural and scenic wealth of the environments through which it runs”.
