The Mayor, José Julián Gregorio, thanked the Spanish-Chinese Association for Exchanges and Developments for their interest in Talavera de la Reina, which will be one of the destinations to be promoted among the Chinese community so that they come to visit the city and thus encourage tourism.

Gregorio, along with the mayor of Tourism, Gelen Delgado, and several councilors has received Pedro Wang, president of the Spanish-Chinese Association for Exchanges and Developments, the president of the Chinese Culture Association of Qi Pao Spain, Guangcui Xu, the president of the Union of Chinese Associations in Usera of Spain, Enguan Chen, the president of the Association of Cantonese in Spain, Guohua Zhang and the president of the New Departure School, Shui Lian Jiang, among other members of these groups.

Talavera joins the tenth edition of the project ‘Love and discover the thousands of cities in Spain’, an initiative of integration of the Chinese community in Spain, to increase dialogue and exchange with the authorities, reduce cultural gaps and promote local tourism in Spain. In fact, the association is considering the idea of publishing a book as a guide to explain the tourist attractions of interest to the Chinese community.

“The doors of Talavera and this City Council are open to the Chinese community and anyone who wants to know our rich heritage, where ceramics occupies a privileged place,” said the mayor, who recalled that ceramics has been declared an Intangible Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO. “We have a universal treasure that we must continue to promote and export around the world,” stressed the mayor.

After the exchange of ceramic gifts and Chinese calligraphy, there was a colorful parade of Qi Pao representatives in traditional costumes to the Plaza del Reloj, who were accompanied by the lion dance, and in the square, they also performed Chinese calligraphy.
