The Councilor for Crafts and Tourism of the City of Talavera, Gelen Delgado, has attended the CerámiTUR course at Cerámica Vodre, specialized in Mexican and Spanish ceramics.

“It is a satisfaction to see how the participants have been deeply impressed by the creative experience lived, at the same time, they are looking forward to return to finish their pieces,” said the councilor.

During the session, attendees were able to work with clay on the potter’s wheel and manual modeling, also applying ceramic glazing techniques. The author of the workshop clearly transmitted how tradition and experimentation can coexist in the same process, generating pieces with their own identity.

The participants especially appreciated the time and dedication required for each phase of the ceramic work, from the initial modeling to the final finish after firing, and agreed on the satisfaction of creating a work that is entirely their own. Many of them expressed their desire to return to decorate and finish their pieces, which must now await the drying and firing process.

This activity, conceived as a practical and close training, reinforces the idea that Talavera ceramics is not only a historical heritage, but also a living and constantly evolving craft.

The course is part of the CerámiTUR program, promoted by the Spanish Association of Ceramic Cities and coordinated by the City Council of Talavera de la Reina, through the Department of Tourism and Crafts, with funding from the European Union’s Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan – Next Generation EU, established by Council Regulation (EU) 2020/2094.
