The Councillor for Tourism and Crafts, Gelen Delgado, has welcomed the Association of large families of Talavera that has participated in the first full training course of the CeramiTUR project in the city. This course dedicated to pottery began yesterday, Tuesday, August 19, at the Ceramics Factory Santos Timoneda.
During the day, all the participants, both children and adults, made their own clay pieces, which will later be fired and painted, thus completing all the stages of the handcrafted process of Talavera ceramics. The experience has allowed attendees to learn about traditional techniques, experience the creative process from start to finish and value even more the local ceramic heritage.
The participants were enthusiastic about the idea of returning to decorate their fired pieces, which will become a unique souvenir of this training activity.
This workshop is part of the CeramiTUR program, promoted by the Spanish Association of Cities of Ceramics and coordinated locally by the City Council of Talavera de la Reina, through its Department of Crafts and Tourism, which aims to turn the ceramic tradition into a living, structured and accessible experience, encouraging citizen participation and pride in Talavera ceramics.
First Anniversary of the designation of Talavera’s Ceramics
as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
