The mayor of Crafts and Tourism, Gelen Delgado, has advanced that today, Wednesday, August 27, the Ceramics Factory Santos Timoneda will host a pottery workshop aimed at the Neighbors of Puerta de Cuartos, as part of the festivities of the neighborhood.
The activity is part of the CeramiTUR program, an initiative that seeks to transform the ceramic tradition into a living experience, participatory and open to all audiences. In this case, the objective is to bring Talavera pottery to the residents of the neighborhood, promoting knowledge, participation and pride in one of the most emblematic crafts of the city.
During the session, participants will be able to experience firsthand working with clay, guided by local potters, learning basic modeling and decoration techniques, and discovering the artisanal processes that give life to Talavera’s unique pieces.
The workshop is designed as a practical and intergenerational experience, in which children, youth and adults can share creative learning and connection with the ceramic tradition. In addition, it coincides with the festivities of the Puerta de Cuartos neighborhood, reinforcing the community spirit and offering neighbors a unique opportunity to learn about, value and disseminate their cultural heritage.
The CeramiTUR program is promoted by the Spanish Association of Ceramic Cities and coordinated at the local level by the City Council of Talavera de la Reina, through the Department of Crafts and Tourism, with funding from the European Union’s Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan – Next Generation EU, under Council Regulation (EU) 2020/2094 of 14 December 2020.
