The mayor of Crafts and Tourism, Gelen Delgado, has advanced that after hard months of work the Ceramitur project will start in our city next Monday with one of the first workshops for family associations and tour guides.
This is what she said at a press conference accompanied by Fernando Portela, project promoter, and Cristina Vilches and María Godoy, collaborating agents, where she explained that this first workshop will focus on pottery, painting and training, and each participant will make their own ceramic piece and will be able to take it as a souvenir.
This will be the first of a series of educational and participatory workshops to bring ceramics closer to families, associations, neighbors, young people and professionals. On the other hand, awareness actions will also be developed for groups at risk of social exclusion or disability with the idea of continuing to break down barriers and bringing our hallmark closer to everyone.
Delgado stressed that it is an honor for Talavera to lead the Ceramitur project, in which 9 municipalities participate in addition to the Spanish Association of Cities of Ceramics (AECC) and which aims to promote sustainable, digital, inclusive and competitive tourism experiences throughout the country to create a national ceramic route, which positions ceramics at the center of tourism experiences.
Ceramitur is part of the national initiative Experiencias Turismo España, funded by the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, and will strengthen tourism and promote ceramics in the towns involved.
These participating localities in addition to Talavera and the Spanish Association of Ceramic Cities are: Agost, Onda, La Rambla, Mota del Cuervo, La Bisbal D’Empordá, Bailén, Alba de Tormes and Manises.
Finally, Gelen Delgado thanked the great work done by the technicians of the City Council to carry out this project, as well as the ceramists, workshops and all those involved in one way or another to make this a reality.
