The mayor of Tourism and Crafts, Gelen Delgado has accompanied the children and adolescents participating in the ceramic painting workshop for young people in sheltered facilities, framed in the activities of the CeramiTUR project in our city.
Delgado pointed out that this initiative achieves one of the objectives pursued by CeramiTUR, to bring ceramics to all sectors of society, while the youngest can experience the creative processes of our hallmark and thus understand and appreciate our culture and heritage.
He added that it has been a real privilege to see firsthand how these children, through their questions, were interested and curious about the process and craft techniques that have led us to achieve the declaration of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by Unesco.
The initiative has been enthusiastically received by both children and educators, who emphasize the value of this type of activities to strengthen the confidence of children and bring them closer to the cultural richness of their city.
These activities are part of the CeramiTUR program, promoted by the Spanish Association of Cities of Ceramics and coordinated locally by the City Council of Talavera de la Reina, through the Department of Crafts and Tourism, which aims to turn the ceramic heritage into a lively, structured and accessible tourist experience, encouraging citizen participation and pride in Talavera ceramics.
CERAMITUR, is funded through the European Union’s Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan – Next Generation EU, established by Council Regulation (EU) 2020/2094 of December 14, 2020.
