The Councilor for Tourism and Crafts, Gelen Delgado, who has made a very positive balance of the first session of the Pottery Training Course held at the Addictive Behaviors and Psychiatric Services Unit within the program of activities of CeramiTUR.

Delgado has proudly highlighted the predisposition and interest shown by users and professionals of the Addictive Behavior Unit (UCA) of Talavera, last Friday, September 5, during the training course on ceramic techniques, within the CeramiTUR program.

This course covers the entire craft process, where, in this first session of Pottery, they connect with the clay to create with their own hands a ceramic piece that, later, in the next session, they will be in charge of designing and decorating to give life to a unique piece that has followed the steps of the craft processes that define us as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

The pottery workshop, directed by the ceramist Álvaro Calvo from Talavera, has been conceived as a therapeutic and discovery tool of the ceramic process, it has allowed the participants to approach ceramics and personally verify the value and the craft tradition that defines us. Through this creative process they have been able to enhance personal skills such as concentration, patience and self-esteem, while favoring interpersonal relationships and group cohesion.

The results have been highly valued, both by the users and by the professional team, highlighting the positive impact on motivation, emotional well-being and confidence in one’s own abilities.

With this initiative, CeramiTUR reinforces its commitment to disseminate the ceramic heritage and encourage the participation of all sectors of the city, to convey the value of this craft, the process and the result that make these unique and unrepeatable pieces.

The CeramiTUR program is promoted by the Spanish Association of Ceramic Cities and coordinated by the City Council of Talavera de la Reina, through the Department of Tourism and Crafts, with funding from the European Union’s Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan – Next Generation EU, under Council Regulation (EU) 2020/2094.
