The Councillor for Crafts and Tourism, Gelen Delgado, has highlighted that the second part of the ceramic painting course for users of the psychiatric unit and the UCA of Talavera has ended successfully, this initiative, promoted by the CeramiTUR project and held on 5 and 12 September has sought to offer a way of artistic expression and occupational therapy that promotes social integration and emotional recovery of the participants. Also in attendance was the Councilor for Health, Julia González.
During the first part of the course, attendees acquired basic notions about clay modeling, while this last session has focused on detailed painting and the creation of more complex works, allowing each of the participants to express their inner world through the colors and shapes typical of our city.
Delgado explained that “this course has been a real turning point for its users. Ceramics, as a means of expression, not only helps to improve fine motor skills, but also gives them an opportunity to focus, relax and connect with their emotions in a constructive way”.
These activities are part of the CeramiTUR program, promoted by the Spanish Association of Cities of Ceramics and coordinated locally by the City Council of Talavera de la Reina, through the Department of Crafts and Tourism, which aims to turn the ceramic heritage into a unique living experience, structured and accessible, encouraging citizen participation and pride in Talavera ceramics.
CERAMITUR, is funded through the European Union’s Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan – Next Generation EU, established by Council Regulation (EU) 2020/2094 of December 14, 2020.
