The mayor of Tourism and Crafts, Gelen Delgado, has reported the good feelings after the second part of the workshop organized by CeramiTUR in Cerámica Vodre, where attendees have decorated the pieces they made last September 2, culminating a complete craft process that has allowed to experience ceramics in all its phases.
After the necessary drying and firing time, the participants met again to paint their works, including a piece made on the potter’s wheel and a traditional Mexican handmade whistle, guided by the Vodre artisan, who shared his knowledge of both Spanish ceramics and Mexican tradition.
The experience was very positively valued, especially for the fact of contemplating the final result of their own creations, which reinforced the feeling of satisfaction and respect for the artisan’s work. Many of the attendees stressed the importance of living the ceramic process from start to finish, understanding the patience and dedication that this craft requires.
This course was conceived as a practical, creative and intercultural training, which not only brings the local tradition closer, but also opens new perspectives on ceramics as a shared artistic and cultural language.
The CeramiTUR program is promoted by the Spanish Association of Ceramic Cities and coordinated at the local level by the City Council of Talavera de la Reina, through the Department of Tourism and Crafts, with funding from the European Union’s Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan – Next Generation EU, under Council Regulation (EU) 2020/2094.
