The mayor of Tourism and Crafts, Gelen Delgado, has highlighted the pride that has been for our city to have led CeramiTUR, and how this has reached many sectors of society “strengthening the commitment of Talavera in safeguarding its ceramics”.

This was done at the closing ceremony of the CeramiTUR event in the municipality of La Bisbal D’Empordà. There, Delgado presented the final results of the project and the great repercussion and acceptance it has had in our city, accompanied by Fernando Portela, dynamizer of the European project CeramiTUR in Talavera.

The mayor recalled that Talavera has been responsible for leading this project with the Spanish Association of Cities of Ceramics and in collaboration with eight other municipalities, members of the Association.

In addition to the presentation of results by each municipality, the new ARTERRA brand was officially presented, which will be the continuation of CeramiTUR and the hallmark of the National Ceramics Route.

ARTERRA will seek to connect the art of the land with people and destinations, being the common image for all municipalities participating in the collaborative network and the National Route of Ceramics.

Delgado pointed out that “ARTERRA is born as a new opportunity that combines tourism and ceramics, a hallmark of Talavera de la Reina and the pride of all Talavera residents”.

After the mayor’s speech, Fernando Portela, as the project’s promoter, highlighted the positive repercussion achieved by the actions developed during the execution of the project, in the lines of action of tourism promotion, awareness, inclusion and accessibility, with the participation of more than 300 people in the different workshops, courses and tourist routes.

Also, during the presentation of the result of the CeramiTUR project of Talavera, Delgado announced to all attendees, the implementation for the year 2026 of the National Pottery Competition, for which he has requested the backing and support of the management of the AeCC, obtaining a very positive response from the Association and the municipalities attending this Assembly.

The CeramiTUR program is promoted by the Spanish Association of Ceramic Cities and coordinated and led by the City Council of Talavera de la Reina, through its Department of Tourism and Crafts, with funding from the European Union’s Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan – Next Generation EU, under Council Regulation (EU) 2020/2094. After its execution and justification, it will continue its functionality phase with ARTERRA.
