Gelen Delgado, Councilor for Crafts and Tourism, will conduct an inclusive pottery workshop for the visually impaired, within the activities of CeramiTUR, encouraging creativity with the aim of demonstrating that art is felt with the hands. The workshop will take place at the San Ginés Artisan Center, an outstanding ceramic enclave in the city for its professional and artisan trajectory.
The main objective of this workshop is to promote artistic expression, autonomy and social inclusion through working with clay, a discipline that allows participants to explore shapes, textures and volumes through tactile perception.
“Pottery is a deeply sensory experience. We want each participant to feel the freedom to create and discover the art from their own abilities”, says Gelen Delgado as Councillor for Crafts and tourism within the activities of the CeramiTUR project.
The program will be run by ceramics professionals and will be supported by monitors specialized in visual impairment, who will facilitate learning through adapted techniques, verbal descriptions and accessible tools.
With this initiative, CeramiTUR reinforces its commitment to disseminate the ceramic heritage through new digital formats, bringing it closer to wider audiences and ensuring its national and international projection.
The CeramiTUR program is promoted by the Spanish Association of Ceramic Cities and coordinated by the City Council of Talavera de la Reina, through the Department of Tourism and Crafts, with funding from the European Union’s Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan – Next Generation EU, under Council Regulation (EU) 2020/2094.
