The City Council of Talavera de la Reina is promoting a comprehensive project for the energy and water efficiency improvement of the city’s ornamental fountains, aimed at saving water and energy while preserving their aesthetic and heritage value.

 

What has been done

  • Replacement of pumping and lighting systems with low-consumption, high-efficiency equipment.
  • Water recirculation systems and automatic control to minimize losses.
  • Sensors and automation to optimize maintenance and detect incidents.
  • Structural and aesthetic rehabilitation respecting the original design and the urban environment.

 

Sustainability criteria (DNSH)

  • Use of recyclable and sustainable materials.
  • Recovery and reuse of more than 70% of construction waste.
  • Removal of contaminating substances (asbestos and harmful chemicals).
  • Compliance with European directives on biodiversity and water efficiency.
